Step 1: Choose the right box
Use a box that allows padding on all sides. A box that is too tight increases breakage. A box that is too large increases movement.
Step 2: Pad the bottom, then center the item
Put padding on the bottom first. Place the item centered, then add padding on the sides and top. Your goal is “no movement.”
Step 3: Do the shake test
Close the box and gently shake. If you feel movement, reopen and add fill. This one test prevents most damage cases.
Step 4: Seal like it is going through a storm
Tape all seams. Do not use weak tape. If it is heavy, reinforce corners and edges.
Step 5: Label clearly
Clear labels reduce sorting issues. Keep the address clean, readable, and protected from scuffs.
